‘Lighting Field (After Walter de Maria)’, is a multi-panel lightbox depicting an appropriated photograph of the artwork ‘The Lightning Field’, by land artist Walter de Maria. For this project, the photograph of De Maria’s work was photo-etched onto 9 copper clad boards, composed of one part copper, and one part FR4. These boards were bound within an MDF box, and soldered into a circuit powering 2 LED’s. As such, the photograph’s operational roles are brought to light, and the conditions of the photo-etche’s creation effect become limitations which effect the capability of the image to perform its task.
